ZIMMERMANN | SUMMER SWIM 2017

Zimmermann explores its roots for Summer Swim 2017 returning to its heartland of Sydney’s Bondi to shoot the seasonal campaign.

Photographer Beau Grealy captures the salt-tinged essence of a quintessential Australian summer shooting lithe beauty Vanessa Axente against the white washed sandstone of the iconic Bondi Icebergs pool.

Swim silhouettes offer clean lines, creating considered shapes against the body. Block colours are treated with contrast binds used to frame and shape. Moulded necklines plunge into a soft dipping V or scoop up on one shoulder, while the measured use of corsetry lacing and boning gives a modern sexy vibe.

Hues of deep navy, petrol greens and olive play against muted shades of slate and nude. Sun bleached whites against rust reds take over mosaic tile prints, while vintage oriental wallpaper is fashioned into an intricate tonal floral. Retro polka dots and Lurex stripes are fresh; utilised in athletic streamlined shapes.

A sporty statement is championed via a streamlined bikini with oversized elastic bind. Similarly the seamless moulded olive Lycra cup bra is evocatively minimal. Solid bandeaus are interspersed with panels of embroidered lace. A plunging one piece with buckled side panels and the sculpted one piece with corset lace detailing round out the hero looks this season.

Elevated resort wear feels rumpled and undone, blouson sleeves and tassel ties on day dresses, playful frills trimming tailored shorts. Supporting the sultry mood, cotton lace skirts have a scalloped edge, teamed with loop trimmed crops. Washed-back linen is expanded this season, into woven stripe throw overs and Victorian dresses.

Summer accessories add a covetable finish, in the form of olive leather bucket bags, printed scarf turbans, tooled leather wrap belts and wide brimmed suede hats. Lace up espadrilles and woven leather sandals round out Zimmermann’s endless summer.
