With many of Western Australia’s social distancing restrictions lifted, weddings are back – and it’s time to celebrate.

Hayley Papiccio from MJ Bale at Claremont Quarter says wedding buzz is at fever-pitch as couples get back into planning their big day.

“No matter what style of wedding you are planning, we have you covered,” says Hayley.

  • Black tie/formal? “The classic Tuxedo in either black or navy remains our most popular choice for Grooms and groomsmen.  Quite often, the Groom wants a point of difference, so we dress him in the tuxedo and the groomsmen in the 2-button suit in the same fabric. This is called our “Saunders” collection.”
  • Beach or cocktail wedding? “Our sand coloured linen-cotton blend suit “The Robertson” reigns supreme. This suit is perfect for Groom’s parties and looks sharp with a crisp white open collar shirt “Lardini” brown leather suspenders and a chocolate suede loafer,” says Hayley. “For a point of difference for the Groom, dressing the groomsmen in the Robertson Jacket with navy chinos always looks dapper.”
  • The Father of the Bride or Groom “We would suggest opting for a darker colour like charcoal or navy. The fathers don’t want to look like they are in the Groom’s Party, but they need a level of formality,” Hayley explains. “We often dress the Groom’s Party and Fathers together so we can create unison, without looking the same.”

Hayley says the lockdown has also given many gents a new appreciation of style and looking good.

“We are dressing a lot of men who want to make that extra effort when they take their partner out to dinner - which is an extra special occasion these days!” she says.

“Most customers are on the hunt for a new smart casual shirt and a sports jacket in either navy or burgundy to wear with chinos or jeans and a pair of boots. Coats and heavy knits are also big sellers this season.”

Mature gentlemen are opting for slimmer cuts with familiar fabrics, such as cord or tweed.

“Our mature customers appreciate our natural fabrics and comfortable cuts, along with patterns such as Prince of Wales checks and our Merino V-neck knits are very popular, versatile, weight and easy to wear for a timeless look for these gents.”
