The Quarter Stylists - AW21 Trends
There’s something about Autumn Winter collections that takes the fashion stakes up a notch.
The Quarter Stylists, Clare Ryan and Corey Chandler have surveyed the season’s new collections and in this edition of The Quarter Edit – they reveal all you need to know for AW21.
Remember, if you need any assistance with your wardrobe, Clare and Corey are available for private styling consultations and fun shopping trips throughout Claremont Quarter.
What are the key trends in AW21?
“There are so many trends this season, it’s exciting!,” says Clare.
“The trench coat is back this season in shades of green and burgundy. It’s a classic item of clothing that everyone should have in their wardrobe for the cooler months. Then there’s new denim; the biggest shift is that skinny jeans have been kicked aside to make way for roomier cuts. Frills have continued from spring/summer and overflowed into winter, which is a lovely addition to a season that has a reputation for being minimal.
“For the guys, it’s about embracing navy and forest green, as well as a thicker stripe. Knitwear is also dominating this season with lots of thick knits that look very cozy and warm.”
“It is time to get dressed this winter and embrace fashion again,” says Corey.
“The power suit is strong, and with less Working From Home this will get you excited to get dressed in the morning back into the office.
“Tweed jackets and blazers will update your winter look, go boyish and boxy for a modern look or keep it classic and fitted at the waist. And checks are key, try a head-to-toe checked suit or just a trouser with textured knit can give that new winter look.”
What do you like the most about AW21?
“It’s all about layers and texture. I know our winters are quite mild, but we can still achieve a Wintery vibe through light layers and the right outerwear,” says Corey.
“I love the warm Autumn colours coming through which look good on everybody, so embrace a bit of colour.”
According to the Stylists, colours for AW21 are Autumn tones of rust and tan, lilac and pale blue. Bold red and cobalt blue. For men, think navy, rust, deep earthy greens, caramel.
Tell us about your Styling Service at Claremont Quarter – how can you help?
“It’s very easy to get stuck in your wardrobe ways,” says Clare.
"As a stylist, I come in with fresh (and honest) eyes. We can run through what clothing you have for the season and work out where the gaps are, or ways to rework your existing clothing with the addition of a few new items.”
Corey adds that the pair encourage clients to review your wardrobe first and find your favourite pieces. From there, the Stylists can step in with some fresh ideas.
“We will help you find whatever it is you need,” Corey says. “We can work together to make some “go to” outfits using pieces you already have and adding in a few new items.
