Our Quarter Stylist, Corey Chandler, shares her top ideas on making your Easter extra special for you and your loved ones this year!
Doesn’t it seem like Easter rolls around far too fast each year? We are only just getting over the Christmas festivities and boom, Easter is upon us. But the best part is definitely the extra long weekend break we all get to enjoy with our friends and families. If you are not off on a mini break, I’m sure you will have a jam packed few days entertaining and eating lots of chocolate. I love to get into the easter spirit, especially now my children fully understand the Easter Bunny will be visiting, and they get to wake up to a good old fashioned egg hunt in our yard. I understand getting into the spirit of this festive time might be a little tricky, as we are in work and school mode. But getting the house decorated with little easter touches definitely adds to the festive fun, and makes the lead up exciting for the whole family.
Are you one to decorate for Easter?
Maybe you like to keep things very subtle and chic? Or perhaps you go BIG, colourful and really have fun with the theme. I have found some gorgeous pieces to keep you in the easter sprit. For those of you that don’t hold back on the easter fun, I love a pastel colour palette. Head straight into Bed Bath and Table for all your décor items. My top picks are the Berry and Easter Egg Wreath, which will be a perfect front door addition, in shades of pale pinks, blues and yellows to get your theme started. Create your own easter objects by using a clear vase and put inside the Easter Egg Box set of 48, which will give you a sweet little pastel and gold splattered easter egg DIY piece to place around the home. I also love the selections of buntings and garlands, at Bed Bath & Table. The “Easter” felt garland is so sweet, with each letter in a different colour and little bunny ears a top of each letter too. Or for a modern take on the pastel theme, get the Parkes Tiered Tray in Plush Pink from Country Road and place on each tray a selection of Fuzzy Bunnies in pinks, blues, yellows and lilacs from Bed Bath Table. For those of you that like to keep your decorating understated and neutral, try creating little moments or “vignettes” around the home. Use objects that you already have like ceramic vessels or candles and add a hint of easter amongst the grouping.

Cute pieces to add could be the David Jones Antiqued Glass Eggs in gold. Or the Wicker Look bunny from Bed Bath and table is a chic take on the easter bunny. A great way to anchor your vignette is with a tray, and the Country Road Theo Timber Paddle adds warmth and texture.

Entertaining or hosting
When it comes to entertaining or hosting, I’ve got some great ideas. I know you will want to create a beautiful tablescape, that will blow your guests away. And it’s all about layering and texture. A beautiful linen tablecloth, placemats, dinner plate and side plate all stacked up. The look is very achievable, you just need the right starting point. The Country Road Harford plates, are beautiful natural glazed stoneware for an understated table. Add elements of colour with the Nolan Soft Gold cutlery set and the Martin Glass tumbler in toffee, which feature a hammered effect to add texture. A show stopping center piece will lift this neutral table. Adding elements from nature really add texture and depth. Try sourcing large branches of Red Capped gum, featuring their bright yellow sprays that are currently in bloom. They will droop and fall, creating a sense of drama for your centerpiece, plus that yellow is really stunning. An understated easter touch could be a chocolate treat on each plate from Koko Black. The gift boxed hazelnut praline triplet bunnies are a chic nod to the holiday celebrations. If being bold is more your style, I’m thinking big bright colours through plates, glassware and napery. In The Roundhouse is stocked at David Jones and the new Pride Rainbow Plate, will certainly be a great starting point of inspiration.
The Maison Balzac Pomponette Coupes are fun and quirky with the multicoloured glass pom poms all over the glass. A great base for these pieces is the Marimekko Tiiliskivi tablecloth in a vibrant red and pink grid print, with a cotton sateen finish. For a fun centerpiece use a large serving dish or platter like the Iittala Kastehelmi bowl in clear glass which features circles of bubbles all over the dish. Fill it with different sized colourful wrapped eggs until it is overflowing. Its quite sweet to even have a few eggs fall around the bowl on the tablecloth.
Easter Inspired Gifts for the Whole Family
I also have a few hints on easter inspired gifts for the whole family. I understand not everyone wants to give out chocolate, but here I have a few ideas that will keep everyone filled with excitement. The T2 Rose Gold Rabbit Infuser is a great gift for those tea lovers. Grab a hold of this fun infuser and get dipping. It’s a nifty gadget that will have you dipping differently with every single brew. Half fill your fun infuser with tea leaves, clasp shut and pop into your cup. A gift that will last longer than unwrapping an egg for sure. Seed will cover all your needs for kids if you are not into giving chocolate to the younger ones. Girls love accessorising, and the sweet Bunny Initial Keyring is the perfect bling to add to a school bag. And for the boys you can’t go past a pair of pyjamas. The Bouncing Bunnies from Seed are the right balance of boyish easter cute in shades of blue, made from 100% cotton. They are perfect as the weather starts to cool down.

If you haven’t checked out Allkinds, it is the one stop shop for beauty and body products for kids. The collections are so fun, I want them for myself. The Superfresh World Gift set is the perfect unisex gift, comprising of mini essentials (body wash, lotion etc..) that smell like a sunny day. And for the chocolate lover let’s not go past the ultimate easter eggs from Koko Black. The Golden Treasures Hamper will certainly impress. Filled with an array of bunnies and eggs, which have all been handcrafted with 100% natural ingredients. Finally, do you love a matchy matchy moment? Then you can’t go past Peter Alexander and get the whole family a set of matching PJs. I’m loving the bright rainbow colours of the Miffy PJ sets, they are certainly bold. Or for something a little more subdued the Floppy Bunny PJ sets are absolutely adorable. Dad will just have to give in and smile along in these cute easter pyjamas.
