How does relaxing by the pool on a sun lounger or cooling down at the beach sound? Pretty good to me right about now! Well, if you are planning a summer break I have a few key items for you to keep in mind. Think pops of colour, cotton and linen looks, a fun kaftan and some stylish swim shorts for the guys. It’s going to be hot and Claremont Quarter has your resort packing under control.
Summer is all about colourful prints. I have chosen some really fun pieces that embrace prints. I know some people shy away from these bold prints but try and have some fun with your resort wardrobe.
The Morrison Sienna Shirt is the perfect way to add a little pop of print. In lightweight cotton poplin, the muted oversized peach florals on the white background will go back perfectly with a white linen pant or washed denim jean.
Another great separate is the Sass and bide By Chance Pant. These pants flow through a blend of cotton and silk, into a relaxed wide leg. The beautiful pastel print features a fun patchwork of vintage florals and butterflies. The elasticated waistband makes these an easy-wear and can be perfectly dressed up or down
For something fun and girly, the Aje Liza Ruched Baby Doll dress hits the mark with the striped print in a mix of pinks, lilacs and yellows. The Linen mix baby doll style has a fitted ruched bustier, shoestring straps and on-trend cut-outs on the waist. For a really fun matching set the Seafolly Take flight One Shoulder Top and Pant in wild lime looks fabulous worn together. The bold butterfly print in black white and lime is a lot of fun. The cropped top has a shirred bodice and soft frill. The wide leg pants feature a shirred waistband and the I love the thigh high side splits. Made from a soft cotton voile this set is made for a hot summer night. Plus, these pieces will be great worn back with other items from your wardrobe.
To keep you super cool, try some pieces with an open weave. Great to layer, while looking comfortable and chic. I love the Camilla and Marc Dante Button Down Knit Cami in Ivory White. Crafted from a beautiful intricate sheer knit in a relaxed silhouette. This Cami is simple and elegant. The Dante is a summer staple with its button-down style, scooped neckline, and narrow straps. Wear backwards with a man style trouser for an elevated look, or keep it casual with denim shorts.
Viktoria + Woods Hybrid shirt and matching Fusion shorts are a great relaxed woven set. The chocolate brown Hybrid Shirt is a sheer crochet short sleeve button down in a relaxed silhouette. Designed to be worn with the matching Cropped Fusion Shorts which are fully lined with an elasticated waist. Again, I love a set for its versatility to go back with other items you already own. I can see the sheer shirt being a real staple piece.
For something a little dressier, check out the Sass & Bide Slow Sky Dress. This long sleeve midi-length black dress in an open knit stitch creates a semi-sheer effect. Its oversized silhouette can be drawn in at the waist with a self-tie fabric belt, it comes with a black mini slip, or wear a back one-piece swimsuit to be a little more daring.
When it comes to being poolside, I love a fun cover-up to throw over my swimwear, and I can’t go past the kaftans at Camilla. The Flamenco Flamingo round neck kaftan features fuchsia flamingos, teal-dipped palms and sunset hues with the signature hand-embellished crystals. This silk kaftan features a rounded neckline and cropped sleeves and I love that it can be transformed into other shapes with a quick lesson from the ladies in-store. For a kaftan a little more understated the Country Road Tie Detail Kaftan comes in lolly pink, black or nougat. In a lightweight cotton weave, it is the perfect throw on, or wear as a dress with the removable matching fabric belt to give more shape.
I love a sarong, they are great to pack and take up no room in your beach bag. The Camilla and Marc Monogram Silk Sarong in black and white is classically chic. The geometric print is the CM monogram and is finished with a delicate double-turned hem for seamless styling. The large size allows versatility to play and wear in multiple ways. Wear with a simple black one-piece for the ultimate understated poolside look. Or, for something bold the Tigerlily Tora Tiger sarong is a wild take on animal print. This tiger sarong is a perfect coverup for your Tigerlily bikini. Wear it as a dress, top or a classic sarong.
Make sure you pack a new maxi dress. The perfect piece to dress down with flat sandals and are large woven tote, or pop on your heels and oversized gold earrings and you are set for a night out. The Solstice Drop Waist Maxi from Bec + Bridge is flattering and floaty in a muted lime green. For those ladies who are after a dress with a sleeve, I have two fabulous options. The Country Road Gathered Maxi dress in pink or black. A softly gathered maxi dress made from lightweight cotton. This style has a full blouson sleeve, V-neckline and drawcord waist. This maxi is a very flattering cut for many shapes and sizes. The Flannel Eliza shirt dress in vibrant emerald is a stunning dress. The soft silk habotai fabrication falls from a collared neckline to a billowing shirt-dress style. Pintucks decorate each pocket, elevating this effortless style. I love that it can be cinched at the waist with the tie belt or left loose.
Don’t forget the all-important final piece of the look, your accessories. It’s important to pack pieces that you will wear with multiple looks. For the guys, we want to see your swim shorts take you from the pool to the bar. There are so many stylish shorts, and I have picked my favourites.
