Our Quarter Stylist, Corey Chandler, talks us through how you should dress this Le Dinner en Blanc so you can stay ahead of the fashion game.
Have you heard Perth’s Le Dinner En Blanc is just around the corner? And Claremont Quarter is the exclusive fashion and retail partner?
Do you know there is a strict dress code…….
This event has a long standing tradition of “all white” and the rules state: Dress all in white and look your best! This means no ivory, no off-white, and no beige… Elegance and originality are key, so have fun with it! Keep your accessories white, silver, or gold. In saying this, I have had a look through the latest collections at Claremont Quarter and I have beautiful options for the ladies and gents who are heading to this exquisite event.
Le Dinner En Blanc, is an opportunity to really have a white moment, with an extravagant and almost over the top look. And I have found the perfect wow factor at Aje, the Fantasy Lace Top. A cropped style with long sleeves, it sits off the shoulders and is covered front and back with soft, floating ruffles. It looks like a cloud and would look amazing with a wide leg high waisted trouser. For something a little more understated the Tea Ceremony Bustier at Manning Cartel will still give that wow factor. Crafted from corded lace and adorned with floral motifs, and the panels are made a feature with sheer mesh. A chic and modern bustier, that you would have in your wardrobe for years to come. If you don’t mind getting a little creative, then try the Crown Fringe Scarf from Viktoria & Woods. Is it a scarf, a top or a skirt? Well it can be all three, and the girls instore can show you how to wear it in all those combinations. But for this event, I love the halter style top, which allows the fringe detail to float over the stomach, and looks sultry yet elegant.
We all love a white maxi dress, and they are perfect to dress up or down. But for this event I have found some styles that will be worn over and over, and for summers to come. The Bec and Bridge Franca Halter dress is in a soft cotton voile, a fitted ruched long line bodice with an A-line skirt that features pockets. Go with some gold accessories to take this dress to the next level. Over at Elka Collective I found the Petunia Dress. A strapless dress that is fitted through the bust and highlights the panelling details with a raw edged seam. This is an elegant and refined dress, and I can see it with a sleek pulled back pony and large statement earring. And at Oroton I found the Lace Trim Apron Dress. Crafted from a mid weight linen, it features a delicate saw- tooth lace trim and a front button closure. The deep V neck line, fitted waist and sweet full skirt gives this traditional shape an elevated feel.
If you are after a fun mini dress, then Rebecca Valance has too many to choose from. But if I have to pick just one, it would be the Alicia Strapless mini dress. I just love a bow, and this features embellished pearl bows down the front of the fitted bodice. The cinched waist and A-line mini skirt, make for a flattering and elegant cut. Heading over to Aje and I love the Laicey Paisley Mini Dress. A collared smock style with a full sleeve, this dress is very sweet. The lace is a heavy paisley, so it is not too girly, and comes with a tie belt, to give the dress a little shape through the waist. Or it would look great worn relaxed and oversized.
Are you one for a more structured look? I’ve got you covered. Heading to Country Road and I’m loving the Utility Mesh Midi dress. Made in a lightweight cotton mesh, this shirt dress features an Aline Skirt, D ring belt to accentuate the waist and gold buttons. A super flattering style for many sizes. If you Love a pant suit, then Saba has the ultimate white linen suit. The Lila Linen jacket and 7/8 pants are a chic and modern look. The blazer is a classic cut single breast style, with shoulder pads for structure. The pants are high waisted, with a wide slightly cropped leg. A classic suit, that will look perfect at the all white event and then become a wardrobe staple season, after season. Who loves a jumpsuit? I think they are often over looked or some may find them too tricky, but the Wrap Neck Wide Leg Jumpsuit from Cue is a statement maker. Crafted from a linen blend, the cross over neckline is very flattering on the chest and shoulders, and I love the wide leg. It’s a little bit sexy, yet a very stylish look. Keep the accessories clen and minimal with this jumpsuit.
The rules state you can have a little metallic in your accessories, which will really pop against a head to toe white look. The Camilla and Marc Jervis Tassel Earrings, are a beautiful fusion of texture and movement. The delicate tassels drop from a twisted knot. They are simply stunning. If your look needs a necklace, the Oroton Asta Necklace was made for Le Dinner En Blanc. A short strand of lustrous fresh water pearls are elegantly entwined with 18K gold. The white and gold combination is modern take on a timeless jewel. A white heeled sandal is a wardrobe must have, and the Dakota heel at Elka Collective is a refined option. Featuring slim white straps, gold metal hardware and the kicked-in heel in tortoise shell make for the perfect summer sandal. And they look very comfortable. If a flat sandal is more your vibe, the gold Hero plaited sandal at Hobbs will compliment an all-white look perfectly. Slim gold plaited straps, that wrap around the ankle with a tassel, are giving Grecian vibes. But will be perfect worn with floaty maxi’s to wide leg trousers, a must have gold flat to add to your summer shoe line up. And we must not forget about a bag, and Oroton’s Florence small shoulder bag is my pick. The small crescent shape in the colour Clotted Cream is very on trend, yet will become a timeless style. It is versatile with both short shoulder or cross body strap, and zip closure to keep everything safe and secure.
Now, I haven’t forgotten about the men. They also need a fresh, all white look for Le Dinner En Blanc. Head to MJ Bale, and the Marlon white chinos will be a go-to piece in your wardrobe. A relaxed silhouette, made from premium cotton twill these look great with sneakers or loafers. And to wear up top, look for the Koppen Half Placket shirt. A casual fit made from Egyptian cotton, with a stepped hem. Roll the sleeves and don’t tuck in, for a youthful look. Or if you like a bit more structure, then Saba has got the perfect linen suit. The Wade jacket and pleat front pants are both made from 100% Linen. The jacket is single breasted, half lined and has a nice structure too it. The pants are a relaxed tapered fit, with a traditional French bearer waistband. And to wear under this suit the Country Road Cotton Silk Button Through Knit will add a little texture. To finish off these looks the Lacoste Powercourt 2 sneakers at Hype DC are an all-white leather sneaker, that will be a go-to all summer long.
It’s now time to get shopping and put your all white looks together. What a fabulous night everyone will have at Le Dinner En Blanc and I can’t wait until the secret location is revealed. Au revior!
