Men’s Summer Trends | Corey Chandler

Our Quarter Stylist, Corey Chandler, is here to guide you through the men’s Summer trends for 2024. Stay ahead of the curve and upgrade your wardrobe with these must-have looks.

Guys, have you been to Claremont Quarter lately? A few new menswear stores have popped up, by the likes of Peter Jackson, Boss and the newly appointed RM Williams which has relocated downstairs to a big, beautiful new space. Plus your favourites, MJ Bale, Rodd & Gunn and Country Road are all filled with new summer arrivals. I have gone through the latest collections and have picked out some of my highlight looks and must have pieces to get you through our long hot summer ahead!

1st stop is with the newest arrival Peter Jackson. Filled with gorgeous blazers, shirts, suits and ties, there is a lot to choose from.

But I can’t go past the Prezza Cream Stripe jacket. Bold with its wide stripe design and subtle nod to a classic boat club sports jacket, in a premium cream and white linen. This piece is prefect with jeans, chinos or even a tailored short.  A definite must have.

And for something a little bold the Araujo Green suit. It can take you from work meetings to Melbourne Cup. A vibrant deep forrest green might be loud for some, but it’s a classic 2 piece suit and paired back with some simple accessories you could be quite understated.

Or go big with a printed shirt and clashing tie, ankle grazing pants and a loafer to really make a statement. Plus they are great pieces to then wear separately and have a more casual look, using other pieces currently in your wardrobe.

Heading to BOSS and there are so many great pieces right now. A fun casual t-shirt is the Cotton Puffed Flame Logo, with its red and orange flaming HUGO logo across the front. It comes in three colours black, white and grey. It’s a bit fun!

Or for something for those with a classic fit, the Colour Blocking Cotton Polo is a great pick. Again in three colours, the  black/beige could be a dressed up option. Or the beige/cream combo would be perfect for a casual look with a chino style short and white trainer. It’s a lightweight and super soft but gives an elevated look.

For a fun lightweight jacket, the Recycled Material Jacket is a great option. In the classic beige with signature stripe tape, it’s a great “throw on” jacket for those cooler nights or to simply dress up a white tee and jeans.

Everyone loves RM Williams, and you must stop past the stunning new store. I’m loving the collection of short sleeve shirts, and the Redcliffe Shirt is a fave. A classic workwear silhouette, in French cotton. The front chest pockets and camp collar give a “safari” shirt vibe and I’m here for it. The deep caramel colour will work well with so many other colours, it is a great summer buy.

If you are after a little twist on a classic jean the Ramco Jeans in Buckskin, a soft sand colour are a great summer option. A classic straight leg in a stretch cotton twill, they will be a great everyday wear or dress them up with a sports jacket for night.

And if you haven’t already invested in a pair of boots, then I say its time. The classic boot will take you from the office boardroom to sporting games to cocktail drinks.

The Craftsman boot has so many options and colours. If you are overwhelmed I say, go black. It will go with everything, and it will soon be the wardrobe staple you wish you had 10 years ago. A true timeless must have.

Rodd & Gunn are having a lot of fun with colour and print.

The pale blue and white floral print of the Archway Sports Fit Shirt is screaming summer. In a lightweight cotton and a slim fit, this shirt will be great to throw on with boardshorts or take you to lunch with the North Thames shorts in the matching Sky blue.

I love a matching moment, and this bright blue is a great colour to add some fun into your wardrobe. And I think it will look great with an array of other colours from greens and grey to pale pink.

Have some fun with colour this summer. If you need a new summer slide look no further than the Kendrick Place Slide. Its soft moulded footbed and double leather straps give the classic Birkenstock a run for its money, with its elevated look.

Heading to Country Road and I’m spying lots of muddy greens, navy, blues and a pop of lilac. I’m drawn straight to the Cotton Silk Textured Polo in Thyme green (also in Navy). With its interesting texture in a lightweight cotton silk, it’s beautifully soft. I like the contrast stripe detail on the cuff and hem, for a sporty look. Polos are a definite trend across a few stores, but this one really is special.

The tailored linen short is the prefect “dressy” short. It comes in black or chocolate and is a wardrobe essential. The light textured linen twill is soft yet holds its shape unlike easy wear linen shorts. Try these instead of a chino, and you will still look put together and refined.

When it comes to board shorts, have some fun with colour and print. The Floral Print Swim Short in navy, khaki and lilac foliage print are fun, yet restrained. They are light and fast drying. They can even take you from the beach to lunch, with the addition of a white linen shirt to dress the shorts up.

Whether it be a wedding, Melbourne Cup or just an excuse for a new suit for the warmer months, then look no further than MJ Bale. The Westbrook Jacket and trouser in a pale pink will get heads turning. Crafted from 100% superfine Merino wool twill, it is the perfect summer suit. The slim fit single breast jacket is modern, yet classic. And the trousers have a flat front with side adjusters for a clean line look.

Add in a fun floral shirt or keep it simple with classic white, and a fresh pair of natural coloured loafers.

For a showstopper suit the Richmond Jacket, waistcoat and trouser are in the perfect shade of pale blue. You cannot go wrong with a three-piece suit. You will be best dressed in the office or at the cocktail party. The woven light weight wool has a subtle micro pups tooth pattern to add some depth, and you can keep the look understated with a tonal shirt and tie or go big and bold with a pop of pink.

Menswear is a whole lot of fun this Spring Summer 23, and I hope to see you around Claremont Quarter adding a few new pieces to your wardrobe as the weather heats up.
