Our Quarter Stylist, Corey Chandler, talks us through the top Summer vaycay pieces for 2024 so you can be ahead of the fashion game this season.
Hello Summer Vaycay! Are you one of the lucky ones about to jet off, to a summer holiday? I have been watching the beautiful Italian sunsets, the pristine Greek beaches and Bali escapes, all across my socials, and it got me thinking about those who are still yet to travel and maybe are in need of some summer packing inspo. It’s hard to imagine getting out of our puffer jackets and into a swimsuit, but there are so many gorgeous pieces around Claremont Quarter ready to see some sunshine.
Swimwear
It is time to feel the sun on your body again, and what better way than with some new swim wear to lounge pool side or hit up a beach club in. For the glamazons look no further than Camilla’s One Piece halter in Under Scarab Skies print. Inspired by Egyptian phoenixes and mythical gods, in soft blues, whites and golds, this is the perfect piece to sit back at the pool sipping cocktails. For a pop of colour, Seafolly’s Corfu Reversible triangle bikini top and matching bottoms are fun and flirty. Available in turmeric orange or Azure blue, it features a seashell print and the sweetest detail of mini tortoise shell beads between the bust. I really love that both pieces can be worn on the opposite side to create a new look. And I found the perfect cover up at Country Road, Cotton Crochet Mini Dress. Designed in a relaxed, mini silhouette, this style has a simple long sleeve and rib detailing at the collar. The open crochet in off white will go back perfectly with colourful swimmers underneath, or keep it tonal in all white.
Basics
When it comes to packing, always try and create a capsule wardrobe of basics. Pieces that can be worn together, and also with the fun, bold, printed pieces. A denim skirt is a must have, and the Aje Resonance Denim Mini skirt will take you from sight-seeing to sunset drinks. Sitting high waisted, slightly A line, it has a fly front and is in a stretch denim. The dark wash makes it a classic style ready to mix and match. This will become a repeat offender in your holiday looks. A white trouser will be a key item to pack. And Country Roads Linen Pull On Pant, is designed in a pull-on style and cut in a relaxed fit. Also available in black and rust, the style will look great over swimwear, with sneakers or sandals or glam them up with a pretty strappy top and gold accessories. Speaking of a pretty strappy top, Saba’s Sam Silk Cami fits the brief. In black, white or nude, this will become a great piece for layering with an oversized linen shirt, or wear by it self as a statement sexy top.
Resort-wear
Now let’s start packing some of the more fun pieces. I love a maxi dress and a summer holiday screams for a few to be thrown in the suitcase. The Aje Charmer Lace Trim Midi Dress, is a white long sleeve shirt dress. The black crochet trim on the hem of the sleeves and hem of the skirt, give a sense of drama, yet it still has an air of casualness. Wear it with the matching thin tie belt to give shape through the waist, or waft around in a billowing cotton maxi dress. At Bec and Bridge the Aurota Strapless Dress is made from a textured knit fabric with a layered effect. The dress is designed to hug your silhouette and elongate your body, with lining to high thigh with splits at both sides. I can see this would be a great versatile dress with either flat sandals or heels. I love a linen maxi and Nude Lucy’s Rynn Maxi will be cool and comfortable. The ruched bust, and full skirt with side splits makes for the perfect casual dress. This style is very flattering on lots of sizes and will be a go to in your suitcase.
I love looking casual yet put together, and there is no better way than with a matching set. The Nude Lucy Zosia Stripe knit tank and shorts are a light weight, textured knit. The black and white stripe will look super chic and are both versatile pieces to add back into your capsule wardrobe. Heading to Zimmermann and I can’t go past the Pop Long Sleeve Toweling crop and shorts. This set screams euro summer in a soft pink and cream hibiscus print and fringe detail on the hem. Again, perfect pieces to mix and match back with your basics to really stretch out the packing. I love a good jumpsuit and Seafolly have the Corfu Playsuit. With elbow length sleeves, button up front, collar, and elasticated waist, it will be super comfortable while looking cool. Plus, I love that it is in linen, perfect for summer travel, and great for dressing up and down.
Night-wear
What will you be wearing once the sun goes down? It’s time to dress up and make the most of the balmy nights. Flannel has the Kayla Cami Dress. A striped silk slip dress with a contrast black lace trim. The stripes are in shades of pinks and reds, this dress will look elegant with simple flat sandals and hair tied back in a sleek bun. Rebecca Vallance is the latest addition to Claremont Quarters fashion line up and this is the place to find a frock! My pick for a party dress is the Kiyo Mini Dress. It’s a fitted black tank style mini, with a contrast white oversized Starfish wrapping around the side of the body. I love the fabric, it’s in a stretch, textured popcorn style fabric which really makes it pop. I’m loving the ocean blues popping up in the collections in time for these summer vacays, and Oroton’s Wave Print Halter Dress hits the mark. The Azure blue and white wave print and fringe trim details give a cute nod to the 60s, with a modern cut. Again this is in Linen, another must have for summer.
Accessories
Let’s finish off you’re packing with a few accessories. At Seed I found the Leather Crescent cross body bag. Available in cream and chocolate, this is the perfect all-rounder. With the long strap it’s a day bag, to wear cross body and a full zip closure. Then when it comes to night, remove the long strap and join up the mini handle to create a cute little circle bag on a wristlet. Cross body bags are a must have when travelling, and the Oroton Ellis bag is perfect. It is available in black, khaki and mahogany. Again, it has a full zip closure across the top and is a great small size. It’s so simple and chic and can definitely take you from day to night. When it comes to shoes a good sneaker is a definite, and you cannot go past the Adidas Sambas at Style runner. The Sambas are still going strong, and such a staple to get you through those long days sight-seeing or travelling between countries. There are so many colours to choose from, but I love these in cloud white and lucid pink, for a touch of fun yet still very understated. And for a sandal, I’m loving all the chunky slides, but head to Midas to find the Holnes Walnut Slides. The classic “H” strap and adjustable upper strap is in a soft leather with contrast black sole. The walnut is the perfect colour to go with everything, and from what I’m hearing these are super comfortable.
I hope this helps you get your packing sorted, or if you’re not headed on a summer vaycay maybe just gets you thinking about our upcoming spring weather. It’s never too early to start buying for the season ahead. Safe travels everyone.
