Winter Has Landed

Our Quarter Stylist, Corey Chandler, talks us through the top Winter trends for 2024 so you can be ahead of the fashion game this season.

It’s like a switch was flicked and winter has arrived hard and fast. That warm weather had to end sooner or later, and I am thrilled to finally be wearing some of my wintery pieces. But it has shown me, I have a few gaps in my winter wardrobe I feel need to be filled. So it was the perfect time to explore the latest winter arrivals at Claremont Quarter.

Knitwear

Time to check out some beautiful knitwear, and there are so many gorgeous styles to suit all occasions. The must have all-rounder is the Country Road Long Sleeve Rib Top. It is the slim fitting top you will be reaching for over and over again this winter. It’s perfectly fitted, stretchy and soft, and comes in several colours. A must have layering piece, and perfect for tucking into high waist trousers and skirts. For something chunky and oversized look no further than the Morrison Layla Cardigan in Cobalt or black. These grandpa cardi’s are featured in most collections in different lengths, but I’m loving this slouchy oversized feel, for an everyday look. The super soft mohair and wool blend will keep you toasty and warm too. If you are after a bit if glam, head to Elka on Bayview Tce and look for the Thelma knit top. Another slim fitting, soft and stretchy style, it features a midnight lurex thread woven into the fabric to give a deep and subtle accent shimmer.  It will take you from day to night and be a great piece for years to come.  I love a bit of winter white, and the Manning Cartel Playing Ground Off Shoulder knit hits the mark.  Crafted from a luxurious alpaca wool blend, it had an asymmetrical cut neckline and designed for a relaxed fit. Perfect with wide leg jeans or a chocolate leather mini skirt I say.

Outerwear

Outerwear is having a big moment, and there are so many stunning options. I have narrowed down to these few that will cover all bases. For the casual weekends of ducking to school sports or running errands in the rain the Nude Lucy Logan Anorak is a winter must have. Perfectly oversized to fit a chunky knit underneath, it is water resistant and light weight. I’m loving the extra-long length, sitting just below the knee. You will look stylish while staying dry. For an all-rounder coat check out the Bec and Bridge Cheyenne Longline Coat. The perfect teddy bear coat in black or caramel. Designed to be an oversized double-breasted style, it is cut from a cozy and warm boucle fabric. You will not want to take this coat off and a classic style like this will be in your wardrobe for many winters ahead. For a twist on the very much still “in” trench, Camilla and Marc’s Burdock Trench Jacket, is perfect for those who do not need a long coat. But it still has the classics of the trench style. It boasts an oversized silhouette, raglan sleeves for a modern twist and made from a light recycled poly. I love it worn slouchy and open, or tie at the waist tight for a chic silhouette. This jacket is perfect over dresses, jeans and sneakers or to the office.

Dresses

I have spotted these fabulous winter dresses, that will become timeless pieces and come out winter after winter. For a bit of mod, the Saba Giselle Velvet Mini Dress in royal blue could be the perfect office dress or take you out for cocktails. To dress it down, layer a fine long sleeve fitted turtleneck knit under neath, with stockings and cute ballet flats for a day or sky high black points and blazer for night. A true classic. And speaking of classics, we love a LBD and the Camilla and Marc Portico mini dress hits the mark. It’s long sleeves and high neckline exude refined elegance, while the sculpted hips and centre front gathering detail create a flattering silhouette. And if you are after a bit of flair the Sass and Bide Cascade dress, cuts a striking figure.  In a tonal black and brown crocodile print, this figure-hugging long sleeve, midi length dress will enhance your shape and make you feel sensual. Layer over a long line trench or blazer to finish the look.

Bottoms

You probably have your winter jeans sorted, so here are some options you may not have thought of. The Aje Isobel Split Hem Knit Pant, is the perfect mix of classic and sporty. Featuring a high waist, gold Aje logo of the back and a comfy elastic waistband, these will take you from day to night, with sneakers to pointed heeled boots. A staple pant, that you will sure to wear over and over. Have you tried the long denim skirt trend yet? If you didn’t do it for summer, then winter is the perfect time to add this piece into the mix. The Country Road Denim Striped Skirt, will become your favourite, as it will go back with so many top options, as well as shoes. This piece is in a deep navy and white fine stripe. It’s in the perfect mid weight denim, splits on each side seam and sits high on the waist. Pair back with a tee and blazer, oversized knit or a fitted long sleeve top. This will be a winter fave for sure. If you are after a touch of leather, the Seed leather mini in dark espresso is oozing with refined winter vibes. Soft and supple leather, and this shade of brown will look perfect with navy, butter yellow, wine and white to brighten up these winter days. Plus, I’m loving a black tight with a knee-high boot at the moment, which is perfect for a winter mini.

Acessories

Checking out the accessories this winter, and I am loving it all! But I narrowed it down to these pieces, that will tick all your boxes and most importantly you will wear over and over season long. Heading to Oroton for a bag, and the choices are aplenty. But I can’t go past a great crossbody bag and the Florence will become your new go to bag. Available in grey, black and cognac, in smooth leather and detachable shoulder strap. But the best part is the double compartments, each with a zipper to keep everything safe and secure, all while looking chic and refined. For a nod to the 90s trend that is ever so present, Viktoria and Woods Joey shoulder bag is stylish and crafted in black or chocolate patent leather.

But it’s a subtle patent, not that super hard shiny leather, it’s soft and will age beautifully. It’s the perfect “croissant” shape to sit comfortably under your arm and I love the feature 2 front flap pockets. I’m loving all the knee high boots this winter, especially the range of colours. The Seed Shae High Leg Boot comes in tan suede and vanilla leather. Both these colours will be great additions to your winter wardrobe, but the Vanilla is my pick. The stiletto heel, pointed toe and structured leg make these a beautiful boot. Wear with dresses, skirts, pants and you will soon realise how versatile they are. For a more everyday style boot, the Hobbs Roda suede boot in brown is my pick. It’s a take on the cowboy style, but much more understated, with a low 4cm chunky heel, almond shape toe and elasticated gusset sides to pull on. I love that it will sit firmly around the ankles, so it will look great with slight cropped jeans or pants, or with a dress and bare legs, and will give the look of extra long legs too.

It’s always nice to have a play in your own wardrobe to find the gaps, and pieces that will give the items you already own extra life to be worn for another season. And the pieces I have talked about here, I feel are chic, timeless, and will be in your wardrobes for many winters to come. See you at Claremont Quarter.
