Hawaiian Ride for Youth

More than one hundred and seventy five riders are in their final stages of preparation after training for the Hawaiian Ride for Youth challenge.

This year will mark the 15th anniversary of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth. It was first conceived in 2003 when a small group of social riders proposed to combine their resources and raise funds for Youth Focus.
Now one of the state’s most successful fundraisers, the ride has grown to now include four pelotons, four different routes, two start locations and 23 schools. Most importantly, it is the main source of funding for Youth Focus to continue their work and has encouraged countless conversations around youth suicide, depression and self-harm.
During their journey on the Coastal, Inland, Wheatbelt, and for the first time, Mid-West routes, the riders will visit 23 schools promoting positive mental health and awareness of Youth Focus’ support services to more than 3,500 students.

Joining the riders for the third year, some of Perth’s most influential business leaders will ride the last leg of the Ride as part of the CEO Challenge, with Hawaiian Director and CEO Russell Gibbs leading the pack again.
“Taking part in the CEO Challenge for past two years has given me insight into the dedication and mental stamina these riders have and the vital role that the ride has in our state in highlighting the prevalence of youth suicide.” Mr Gibbs said.

Supporting Youth Focus since 2002, Hawaiian continues to work with the organisation beyond the Hawaiian Ride for Youth, assisting them to deliver their ongoing work to help prevent youth suicide within our community.
“Partnering with Youth Focus has been one of Hawaiian’s most significant relationships and we are extremely proud of how our partnership has evolved as both organisations have developed in their own right. We’re looking forward to another great year partnering with Youth Focus and to what will hopefully be another record-breaking result for the Ride.” Mr Gibbs continued.
