Hawaiian Walk for Women’s Cancer raise $1m for cancer research

Thanks to Saturday’s walkers and their supporters, the Hawaiian Walk for Women’s Cancer truly made an impact.

Before the walk, an impressive $925,000 was raised by the over 500 walkers and their supporters. Inspired by the walkers and their spirit at the starting line, Hawaiian owners Mei and Chiu Chi Wen announced they would top up the fundraising pool to make sure it reached $1,000,000 going towards the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and their work towards finding a cure for breast and ovarian cancers.

In the weeks and months leading up to the walk, the 22 Team Hawaiian walkers raised an incredible $82,000, the highest of any corporate team.

Hawaiian CFO Damian Gordon, who walked with his wife Lyndal, said he was proud of the team and their fantastic fundraising efforts.

“It’s an amazing result! It is great to be part of something that truly helps increase awareness of women’s cancers and raise funds for the amazing research teams at Perkins.”

As part of the 42km route, the walkers stopped by Hawaiian’s Mezz, Park Centre and Claremont Quarter where the Hawaiian team and volunteers supported the hundreds of men and women walking through with motivating cheers, entertainment and refreshments.

Thanks again for the generosity and spirit shown by the walkers and their many supporters along the way!
